Basics to Banking
Basics of Banking (Ages 13–17) Hosted by BMO – Westridge Branch, Maple Ridge (across from Value Village) Monday, July 13 | 5:30–7:00 PM Cost: $15 per teen *This fee helps cover website maintenance, registration costs, and refreshments. Please send etransfer after registration to: ajgodfrey@gmail.com Ready to take the first step toward financial independence? Join us for this fun, interactive, and beginner-friendly banking workshop designed just for teens! We'll cover: ✅Getting started with your first bank account ✅Online banking basics ✅How to spot online scams and protect yourself ✅Budgeting and managing your first paycheques ✅Smart money habits for the future And more… ⏰ The class is approximately 1 hour, with an additional 30 minutes for questions from teens and parents, plus the opportunity for anyone interested to open their first bank account. ⚠️Opening a bank account is completely optional. If you choose to open one, please bring two pieces of ID, as accounts will be set up after the class. Light refreshments will be provided. Please note: Space is limited. If a parent wishes to attend, we kindly ask that attendance be limited to one parent per teen to allow as many youth as possible to participate. Come learn valuable life skills, ask questions, and gain confidence managing your money in a welcoming and supportive environment!
Getting Your First Job
Presented in partnership with WorkBC, this engaging 90-minute workshop gives teens the confidence and skills they need to prepare for their first job. Participants will learn resume building, first job search strategies, interview tips, and take part in interactive activities designed to build real-world confidence. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate and receive personalized guidance, class sizes are limited to 10–15 participants.
Basics to Outdoor Safety
Ages: 12+ In the Maple Ridge Search and Rescue /Survive Outside program, you will learn about Trip Planning, Training and Taking the Essentials, and other outdoor travel tips through a presentation slide show explaining what to do if you get lost, how to stay safe and what to bring with you when you head out on the trails.
Basic Car Maintance
Ages: 16+ Learn the basic maintance of owning and using a car. How to check the oil. Safely change a tire? Boost a dead car battery. You may find yourself in a situation where there is no cell phone reception and need to rely on the knowledge of classes like these. These are life long skills you will need as long as you are driving.
