Basics to Banking
Basics of Banking (Ages 13–17) Hosted by BMO Monday, July 13 | 5:30–7:00 PM Please send etransfer after registration to: ajgodfrey@gmail.com Ready to take the first step toward financial independence? Join us for this fun, interactive, and beginner-friendly banking workshop designed just for teens! We'll cover: ✅Getting started with your first bank account ✅Online banking basics ✅How to spot online scams and protect yourself ✅Budgeting and managing your first paycheques ✅Smart money habits for the future And more… ⏰ The class is approximately 1 hour, with an additional 30 minutes for questions from teens and parents, plus the opportunity for anyone interested to open their first bank account. ⚠️Opening a bank account is completely optional. If you choose to open one, please bring two pieces of ID, as accounts will be set up after the class. Light refreshments will be provided. Please note: Space is limited. If a parent wishes to attend, we kindly ask that attendance be limited to one parent per teen to allow as many youth as possible to participate. Come learn valuable life skills, ask questions, and gain confidence managing your money in a welcoming and supportive environment!
Getting Your First Job
***THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL****A NEW CLASS WILL START ON ANOTHER DATE TO FOLLOW**** please send etransfer to: ajgodfrey@gmail.com Presented in partnership with WorkBC, this engaging 90-minute workshop gives teens the confidence and skills they need to prepare for their first job. Participants will learn resume building, first job search strategies, interview tips, and take part in interactive activities designed to build real-world confidence. To ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate and receive personalized guidance, class sizes are limited to 10–15 participants.
Basics to Outdoor Safety
Ages: 12+ In the Maple Ridge Search and Rescue /Survive Outside program, you will learn about Trip Planning, Training and Taking the Essentials, and other outdoor travel tips through a presentation slide show explaining what to do if you get lost, how to stay safe and what to bring with you when you head out on the trails.

Basics of Cooking
Join us for a fun, hands-on 3-day cooking class where teens will build confidence in the kitchen while learning essential life skills. Participants will learn: Knife safety Kitchen and stove safety Basic food preparation skills How to make a simple breakfast, lunch, and dinner that everyone will prepare, enjoy, and taste together. Each class runs for 2 hours, with a little extra time afterward for proper kitchen clean-up and organization. Dates and cost will be announced soon.
Basics of Sewing
Have you ever wanted to learn how to sew? This fun, hands-on 8-week sewing class is the perfect introduction to using a sewing machine while building practical skills that will last a lifetime. Teens will learn: -Sewing machine safety and basic operation -How to thread and care for a sewing machine -Basic sewing techniques and skills -How to create simple clothing they can proudly wear -How to mend and repair an article of clothing from home. This interactive program is designed to help teens gain confidence while learning a valuable life skill in a fun and supportive environment. Please bring a basic sewing machine from home if you have one. Be sure it is in good working order and has been recently serviced. A limited number of machines may be available to borrow. Class cost and dates will be announced soon.
Basic Car Maintance
Ages: 16+ Learn the basic maintance of owning and using a car. How to check the oil. Safely change a tire? Boost a dead car battery. You may find yourself in a situation where there is no cell phone reception and need to rely on the knowledge of classes like these. These are life long skills you will need as long as you are driving.

Basics to Quilting
Ready to turn old fabrics into something beautiful? This creative 6–8 week quilting program will teach teens the fundamentals of quilting while encouraging creativity, sustainability, and patience. Please note: Participants must have basic knowledge of using a sewing machine, as this class builds on those skills. As part of the program, we'll take a fun field trip to Mission Thrift to search for reusable fabrics, shirts, and other materials that can be transformed into a unique quilt. Teens will learn how to plan, piece, and assemble their quilt while giving new life to pre-loved fabrics. This is a fun, hands-on class where creativity meets practical sewing skills. This class is suited for 14+ More details, dates, and class cost will be announced soon.
Basics of Menstrual Cycles
COST WILLBE ADDED SOON Starting your period can bring a lot of questions—and that's completely normal. This supportive and educational program is designed to help girls ages 10–13 understand the changes happening in their bodies and feel confident managing their menstrual health. Participants will learn about the menstrual cycle, what to expect during their period, common symptoms such as cramps, the differences between pads and tampons, basic menstrual hygiene, and simple self-care strategies to help them feel their best. There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions in a respectful, age-appropriate environment. Our goal is for every participant to leave feeling informed, prepared, and confident.
